Story Board

I made a three-panel storyboard based on the King Bach vine titled “When you trip and spaghetti falls out your pocket.”  I went through the video, I took three screenshots of the frames I wanted to storyboard. The frames I chose are the one where he’s carrying a bunch of items such as books, a frame where he has fallen and dropped all of his items, and the frame where he is shoving spaghetti back into his pocket, which is the most important frame in the video.

By drawing the character in these positions, it helped me realise how I should approach characters when they are kneeled down or falling over. It was especially challenging to draw a character falling over, but after many tries, I think it turned out somewhat well.

I took some creative liberties with the sketch, as I removed the other man,  and extended the background to be wider. I also included the items he dropped on the floor so that the actions carry over to the other scenes, creating some continuation.

Once I finished the drawings of the frames, I  put them all together in a separate photoshop file and added the description of the scenes, which can be seen in the final product.

Overall I think the storyboard is alright, and I am especially happy with the second frame as it turned out better than I thought it would. I also think that in the third frame, the kneeling down looks quite good, as I also found it challenging to draw that, but think it turned out alright in the end. For future animations, I will start by creating a storyboard before animating so that it gives me an outline of how I want the final product to look, and allows me to annotate how I want the camera to move and what transitions I want to use too.
