Pixel Art
For the pixel art task, I started by doing doodles by using a small canvas size and the brush tool really small so that I could add in pixel by pixel. The three things I doodles were Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls, Emil from NieR, and the Blue album by Weezer.
The reason for the doodling was to get used to actually working with making the art pixel by pixel. Doing it this way gives a cleaner look overall to the art compared to drawing it by hand on a small canvas size. Out of all the doodles, I liked the Emil one so I decided to make a new piece of art focusing on the Emil head.
In the final pixel art, I attempted to do some shading by making some pixels lighter than others, as seen in the top right of the art. I also tried to add more details to the art as in the mouth I used different shades of grey to show some teeth which I wasn’t able to do in the original smaller doodle I made.
Overall I think that the pixel art came out well, but I think as I get more and more used to creating pixel art I will progressively get better. I want to get more used to creating round objects using pixels and get better at shading because I think that’s an aspect I can improve upon a lot. I also want to start to animate using pixel art so that I can make games that use assets that look more polished. Pixel art is definitely a skill I want to expand upon as I do more and more art.
